Why should I have a website?
Having a website increases your exposure exponentially over printed materials. With a website, people from all over the world can find you 24/7. Furthermore, there is no limit to how much information you can offer on a website.
Why should I choose you to design our website?
Making a website is more than just opening up a website editing program and filling in a template. I have experience in marketing, graphic design and information architecture. I create websites that are easy to use, visually pleasing, quick-loading and viewable by everyone.
Why are you less expensive than other developers?
I run my own company and therefore able to reduce overhead while offering professional services at reasonable costs.
Why is a website better than a print brochure?
While a print brochure is an effective marketing tool, its reach is limited. A website can be viewed by an infinite number of people around the world at any time at marginal cost.
How long will it take until the site is online?
I work as quickly as the client can provide information. Overall, completing a site takes anywhere from two weeks to several months depending on the scope of work and the services required.
What's your process for building a site?
I believe that web development is a collaborative process. We will begin by meeting in person or by phone to determine your specific needs. I will then put together a concept for the site and offer suggestions for improvements. We with then discuss and make changes before the website is finalized. Only after your final approval will the website be posted on the Internet.
How do I know what should go on my site?
During our consultation, we'll talk about what you want to have on your site. I have many clients with varying degrees of web experience. Through discussion and collaboration we've always been successful in determining exactly what is needed for their individual site.
Why don't you make sites entirely in Flash?
While Flash can add drama and impact to a site, it comes at a price. Not only does Flash cost more in development and maintenance costs, but it substantially hinders usability and Search Engine optimization. Additionally: you can’t bookmark a page within a Flash website, the "Back" button doesn’t work, link colors don't work, text resize option doesn’t work, viewers looking for a specific phrase or name won’t be able to use the standard “find on this page” feature. Finally, most Flash websites don’t meet accessibility standards.
Can I have Flash as part of my site?
Absolutely, Flash is a solid technology that can add considerable drama and impact to your site when used judiciously. (view a Flash gallery)
Do I need to purchase a domain name?
Yes, either you will need to purchase a domain name or I can do it for you. To check domain name availability please visit Whois.com and use their EasyDomainSearch.
Who will host my web site?
You can use any host you feel comfortable with. However, if you do not have a host I recommend NetworkSolutions. They are an industry leader and have an excellent track record.
Can you build a site that I can maintain myself with Homestead's Sitebuilder?
Yes, Homestead is a great way for small businesses to have a site they can easily maintain and update themselves. We can build your entire site for you using Sitebuilder or make a template you can use to complete your own site. (view Homestead Site maintained by the client (example 1 | example 2) or visit Homestead Technologies Inc).
Will you redesign the site I currently have in place?
Yes, I will be happy to discuss any ideas you might have for the redesign of all or part of your site.
We're a nonprofit organization, do you offer discounted rates?
Depending on my availability, I offer my services to nonprofit organizations at discounted rates. For more information, please contact me.
How do I make changes to the site after it's up?
I am always available at an hourly rate to make changes or update your site. Alternately, I offer consultation to clients who prefer to maintain the site themselves.

I use a combination of tools to build sites including Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Paint Shop Pro, Dreamweaver, Fireworks, Flash and text editors.
I'm not sure what I want on the site, can you help?
Absolutely, I'd love to discuss your needs with you. I'm confident that I'll be able to offer suggestions to make for a successful website for you.
What will you need from me for the site?
The most important thing I will need is an idea of what you want your web site to be as well as any information, graphics, photographs and logos you want to include on your site.
We don't have a logo, can you create one?
Yes, I have extensive graphic design experience and would be happy to work with you on a logo that will effectively represent you.
I already have a brochure, can I just put that on the web?
Yes, but this would hardly be taking advantage of all the web has to offer. Unlike a brochure, a web site can offer a limitless amount of information and additional services to your customers. You might however consider having on your site a downloading version (in PDF form) of your brochure.
Will my site look good on different browsers (Internet Explorer, Netscape), and for people with different monitor sizes?
Yes, I design my sites to work with all web browsers and for people viewing at a wide range of resolutions. Furthermore, I optimize all images for the web to ensure they load quickly regardless of the viewer's connection speed.
How do I submit images to be used on the site?
Digital images are preferred to photograhs because they can be quickly emailed and deployed on a web site. For more information about the quality of images please visit the Photographs in Web Layouts page.
Will my site be found by search engines?
Yes, eventually, your site will be picked up by the major search engines. But if you are serious about being found on the web, you will have to put some effort into search engine optimization, or pay someone to do it for you.
What if I decide I no longer am interested in your services?
My contract with you is non-binding. You are free to discontinue using my services at any time.
Who owns the rights to the images and designs you create for me?
The client owns the rights to all of the content I create for them as well as ownership to the domain names I purchase on their behalf.
